A Strange Haze // The Tenth Doctor

Demory had materialized her TARDIS out near Cardiff to help out a friend who had said there was an oncoming haze that has been making the people go "crazy". Unsure of whether this were true or not, Demory decided to find out for sure. Stepping out of her TARDIS, she pulled out her sonic scanner, looking around. The fog was rather thick. In fact, it was so thick, that there was no sign of cars or anyone outside. It was incredibly hard to see a few feet in front of you.

Narrowing her eyes, she tapped her chin as she then held her scanner up, going up and down to get data on what it was. She then pulled it back, reading what it said and wasn't sure what to make of it. "Oh boy... sounds like I need to make a phone call," she laughed lightly. Whether or not the haze was truly going to make you go mad, she wasn't sure.

She stepped back inside of her TARDIS and reached out for her phone, and called the one person whom that she knew could help. "Doctor?" she spoke out, unsure if he could hear it through the TARDIS or not. Rather than waiting for him to answer, she decided to let it go straight to his interface. "Doctor, I need you to come down to present day Cardiff, right away. We have a situation."

The Doctor was currently running for his life from a squad of samurai. All he wanted to do was get some original take-out from Feudal Japan, and this was how they treated him?! As he closed in on the blue phone box, he heard the phone begin to ring.

He quickly opened the secret panel in the door, revealing a house phone. He picked it up, looking behind him to see if the samurai wewre still following, "Whoever this is, it better be important, I'm kind of in a jam! Oh, Demory, that you?" He asked, a smile coming to his face. "Present day Cardiff, eh? On my way! Kiss!" He then made a smooching sound into the phone before hanging it up, running inside and setting the coordinates.

Demory couldn't help but laugh at his ending before hanging up. She shook her head, sighing as she then exited her TARDIS once more, and waited. She was standing outside for a little bit, wondering what it was that was taking so long. She looked her watch. Oh. Five seconds passed. It felt longer...

She bit her lip, tapping her foot against the concrete as she sighed again. What was taking him so long? She looked at her watch again. Oh. Another five seconds passed... what was going on. She could have sworn that it was longer! She was starting to worry herself because it felt as though this was going on consecutively.

"Demory!" she heard someone call out. "What?" she said quickly, and she turned to see no one. She bit her lip, narrowing her eyes a she went further into the haze to see what it was. They're coming, they're coming, WATCH YOUR EYES! she turned her head again, completely forgetting what happened. "What..." she looked back to her TARDIS. Going to wipe her forehead from the apprehension, she noticed a tally mark on her hand. "Oh no."

The TARDIS appeared a few feet away from her location. He looked at the monitor, it was telling him of the strange whether conditions. He quickly grabbed his Sonic Screwdriver and Timey Wimey detector and strided outside after throwing on his brown overcoat. The bell of his detector rang. "Ding...." He said to himself. Ding was never good.... "Oi, Demory! You out here?!" He called, hoping she hadn't gotten herself into too much trouble.

She walked over to him, quite lethargically as she continued to look around her, confusion washed over her face. "Every time I go to do something, I forget what it is," she sighed. "My memory has been horrible today..." she looked down at her hand, counting the tally marks on her wrist. "I just don't understand what I was counting."

Why was the Doctor here in the first place? She face palmed, letting out a groan in annoyance, "You're going to hate me," she sighed as she looked around for a moment. "I forgot why I even asked you to come..." she bit her lip, smiling sheepishly. "Something weird is going on here I think. I can't recall..."

The Doctor looked at the tally marks on her hands, and the machine dinged again. "Ding..." He looked around. Whatever they were doing, it must've had something to do with this fog... "Demory, you've encountered The Silence...." He looked back at her. "Simalar to the Weeping Angels, excewpt when you look away, you forget you've ever seen them...."

The Silence. "Oh, bloody hell," she murmured as she felt her hearts stop for a moment. The idea of them scared her to no end. She had a run in with them once before and they were not happy to know that more Time Lords were around.

"...What can we do then?" Demory pursed her lips as she looked around. "Where are they... there's one close by--" her eyes caught the glimpse of one and a look of horror came over her as she turned the Doctor to face it--it was gone. "Sorry... nevermind, nothing was there..."

He saw the Silence, and didn't take his eye off of it. He grabbed Demory and turned her towrd it the best he could without looking away. "'Allo there...." He said to the Silence. "So, what is it you want then?"

Seeing the Silence when the Doctor had tugged against her, her eyes widened as she stared at it, trying her hardest not to look away. She absolutely hated these things. They freaked her out to no extent. When the Doctor had asked what they wanted, the Silent simply tilted his head, staring at them for a long moment, before finally lifting it's hand, pointing at the two of them.

"I don't like what it's trying to say," Demory said quietly as her hand went to clasp the Doctor's. "Last time I had a run in with these guys, they tried to kill me. They don't like the fact that there's more than one Time Lord out there."

"Yeah...doesn't seem like it...here, take this." He quickly reached into his pocket and pulled out a sharpie. "Mark yourself whenever you see one." After handing her the sharpie, he took one of his own and marked his hand. "I suppose you must have something to do with the fog then, eh?" He asked in a quizzical sort of way to the Silent.

When she was given the sharpie, she marked herself once more. "But... what was I marking myself with then?" she then quickly remembered the pen in her bag. "Oh, nevermind." She sighed though. She hated dealing with these things. "I wonder what they are doing with the fog in the first place..."

"Probably making it harder for us to see them." He put his hands on her shoulders. "Fog is usually as thick as pea soup.... If we can't see them, then we forget they were here, and if we forget they were here, then they can get away with their plans..."

She nodded. "This is... not what I expected for this evening," she sighed. "How badly do you think they want us...? And do they want us dead or alive?" she worried for a moment, looking to him with wide eyes. The Silent continued to stair at them with its head cocked to the side in a very creepy manner. Demory was definitely getting uncomfortable.

"If I were to make a guess...I'd say dead." He said, not taking his eyes off of the malicious being. "At least tha's usually the case." His grip on her shoulders tightened slightly. They needed to find out what the Silent wanted, but if they took their eyes off of it, to them, it would've never happened....they needed a plan....

Okay, they wanted them dead. "....How are we going to get out of this one..." she whispered against him, backing into him when she felt his hands tighten their grip on her shoulders. Her hands started to quiver a bit in apprehension.
