There is mainstream Marvel and then there are separate, multiple divergent timelines. These alternate universes give way to numerous characters and events. In a world where life after death is more than just a possibility and where someone might be playing one version of a character (Charles Xavier XMFC edition) you could be playing a different variation of the character (Professor X trilogy edition or comics even).
